Jaunty Jackalope
Yesterday marked the release of Ubuntu 9.04 “Jaunty Jackalope.” As you may or may not know, I’m a huge proponent of Linux, especially the XFCE backed XUbuntu. So yesterday I grabbed the latest update, did a full reinstall, and am more than impressed. Usually there are a few feature updates, new interfaces, but the general experience stays the same. 9.04 brings with it many useful updates. First of all is the new Ext4 filesystem – super speedy; boot-up time is very, very noticeably quicker; and with the inclusion of the latest xfce, many of the interfaces have been overhauled making customization and system tweaking super easy. If you’ve been waiting to try out Linux due to complexity, this distribution may be the one to give a go. Enough hype is already spreading about this distribution, so I’ll simply leave you with my two cents and few helpful links:
