More Defense for Speed Racer

I liked Speed Racer, but I know it’s gotten a lot of harsh critiques. If you’re up for actually hearing thoughtful and intelligent responses to the movie check these out for a well-balanced perspective of the movie for what it was.

  1. I completely agree with your thoughts on this wonderful movie! Thanks for the links. =)

    GO SPEED GO !!!

  2. The Bottom line: It bombed. Doesn’t matter what an individual opinion will do for this movie. Collectively, the vote is cast. The movie, Speed Racer, Sucks ! I rest my case.

  3. Yeah, you’re right, it did bomb as far as the box office numbers go – and one individual opinion does little in the face of massive poor reviews. However, as far as movie reviews go – most mainline critics are idiots, who as Opus very eloquently stated, don’t appreciate the art of a particular movie for what it is but instead warp it into something it was never trying to be in the first place. No matter how much you try to make an apple taste like an orange, sorry my friend, it’s still going to taste like an apple, and you’ll be left disappointed. I’m not going to trash a movie just because everyone else says it bombed – rather I’ll first give it a chance and let it do what it’s trying to do – then I’ll formulate my opinions. Statistics mean little to the individual person involved, just because a majority feels a certain way, doesn’t mean I’m going to.

  4. Exactly, but the movie still bombed. Lost lots of money. Poor Wachowski’s,… they should’ve developed the SCI FI “dreamscapesaxis ” instead.
